In a Big Win for Solar, Arkansas Judge Upholds Full Rate Net-metering and Denies a Grid Fee

The Arkansas Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of net metering solar power. The ruling could boost Arkansas, “the land of opportunity,” to a new level of sustainability. Net metering allows customers to receive the full retail rate for excess energy they send to the grid. Solar customers in Arkansas will continue to be credited for excess energy at full retail rate. Utility groups argued that net-metering customers could pay their share of maintaining the grid through a monthly grid charge. The Commission found “some evidence of potential cost-shifting”, and rejected two-channel billing.
